the stor-y

You might be wondering where the name "Doughssert" came from or why this page is spelled "stor-y." There's a reason, I swear! Keep reading.

My younger brother, Alec, has autism and is technically nonverbal, but he talks, a lot, and his words are pronounced differently, with emphasis on vowels! "DOH-zert" is how he says "dessert," and "stor-eee" is how he says story.

To this day, my family and I will be sitting to eat for dinner and before we can even take a bite, Alec will be halfway done with his plate and say "dozert," meaning he's already asking what's for dessert and wants it shortly. He's so silly.

I went back and forth about naming this company for months and months and couldn't land on anything that felt right, until one day I was FaceTiming him, and it hit me. Every light in my head turned on and here we are! Full-force, baking sourdough and cookies.

I say all this to say.... the name doughssert was right in front of me my entire life. That's really it. That's the stor-y.
